After two pisco-fuelled years in Lima, Peru, this year’s awards ceremony for Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants will take place in Mexico City on Wednesday 23rd September. To celebrate, we're taking you behind the scenes at three restaurants from the 2014 list – Sud 777, Pangea and Amaranta – to give you a taste of Mexico’s finest regional cuisine and dining experiences.
In August, we’ll be running an exclusive competition giving you the chance to get your hands on your own #50BestPass for this years’ event, so keep following to find out more…
Experience a week in the life
Pangea, Monterrey
The sophisticated Pangea is the crown jewel of Mexican culinary pioneer Guillermo González Beristáin, who effortlessly combines classic French influences with local Mexican produce and flavours.
Sud 777, Mexico City
Sud 777 is a lively and contemporary restaurant, led by innovative chef Edgar Nuñez. This unique space was built on a former tennis court and is noted for its honest cooking and exuberant personality.
Amaranta, Toluca
Owned and run by Pablo Salas, Amaranta is home to bold flavours and progressive techniques. This modern restaurant is also characterised by a focus on pork; its calling-card dish is the trotter carpaccio.
