Tropical bar culture is alive and well in Argentina’s Mar del Plata, specifically in the resort town’s simply named Tiki Bar Mar del Plata. And what a setting for it, just a couple roads away from the Atlantic. This place is all about sunshine and good times, with all of the elements you would expect from a tropical-themed bar. Lots of bamboo, lots of leafy plants, and most importantly, lots of rum. The cocktail list features a good balance of classics and original creations, the latter drawing inspiration from Argentinian produce and culture too – all served in an array of interesting drinking vessels. Try the Piña Colada Moderna, with the rum, pineapple and coconut you’d expect, but South American herb huacatay too. There’s a selection of great food on offer too, as well as live music.
