Modern Australian with an Italian soul, Templo is a contemporary take on a neighbourhood restaurant. The intimate space, which seats just 20, is finished with an honesty that reflects co-owners Matthew Breen's food philosophy. The simple fit out includes bare bricks, a large communal table with kitchen views and little else. Concise, considered menus – with most ingredients sourced from within 50km of the restaurant – are designed for sharing. Think home-cured charcuterie, gnocchi fritto wrapped in prosciutto and veal cotoletta. A wine list focusing on small, independent growers adds to the sense of egalitarian exclusivity.
