There's nothing quite like eating expertly-prepared seafood as you look out over the water, and that's only part of Ocyá's charm. Located on the verdant Ilha Primera this is an elevated take on a beachside clam shack: unpretentious but elegant. Chef Geronimo Athuel is unapologetic about his obsession with the sea and all its bounty, as demonstrated both here and in his second Ocyá site in the more easily accessible Leblon district of the Brazilian capital. Appetisers make up our favourite part of the restaurant's offering and are divided into Raw, Grilled and Crispy categories with fish being the main event. Dishes are enhanced by innovative flavour combinations like a smoked fish sausage with grilled onion and a pepper and pork butt jelly, as well as a signature dish of 'fish necklace' with spicy caramel, white wine sauce, sriracha and soy.
