Kotori

São Paulo, Brazil

This sleek sliver of a restaurant brings contemporary Japanese culture to one of Sao Paulo’s coolest neighbourhoods. With a casual feel not dissimilar to a British pub but with a rigorous approach to food and drink, the menu takes on the yōshoku approach to Japanese cooking, where local dishes flex to incorporate Western methods and flavours. Menu highlights include Eryngii mushrooms infused with chicken broth, tucupi and mustard seeds and the wagyu yukhoe with toasted sesame oil and ikura. If you're after a sweet finisher, don't miss the shokupan rabanada, a bread-based dessert topped with milk ice cream and drizzled with toffee syrup.
