Restaurante Aizomê at Japan House

São Paulo, Brazil

Within a stone's throw of the Japanese Consulate, Aizomê at Japan House was originally opened to serve São Paolo's Japanese population, alongside anyone that loves Japanese food. Set within a traditional townhouse designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, the interior bares all the hallmarks of modern Asian luxury: clean lines, open spaces and an abundance of natural light. The cuisine, helmed by chef Telma Shiraishi, is underpinned by the concepts of 'ofukuro no aji' or the flavours of homemade cooking, particuarly that created by a mother, alongside 'moritsuke', the practise of ensuring the final product looks as good as it tastes, so you're always going to be in for a meal that's both delicious and delightful to look at. Sushi dominates the menu but is by no means your only option with a selection of noodle dishes and deep-fried delights like karaage and croquettes.
