Bon Délire
Montreal, Canada
It may be operated by the same group who owns Montreal’s Atwater Cocktail Club (No.50 on North America’s 50 Best Bars list 2024), but the 90s-inspired Bon Délire is more like the former’s rebellious younger sibling. It is unashamedly bold, with cheetah-print upholstered pool tables, an undulating bar top softly lit by neon signs and slushie cocktails served in chunky v-shaped Martini glasses. But despite its billiards bar-meets-recreational dive feel, the cheeky twists on classics like the Half Naked & Almost Famous made with mezcal, Suze, yellow Chartreuse, lime juice and rhubarb are right on the money. Quick fix boilermakers like the Jamaican (beer and a shot of aged rum) are best paired with a game of pool and the Cubano sandwich; and with a closing time of 3am, expect it to be a late one.
