With its cosy wooden panelling, plastered ceiling and gilt mirrors, Maison Publique has the heart of a British gastropub combined with a healthy dash of Canadian-French flare. Derek Dammann – formerly of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in London – specialises in honest, generous cooking that warms diners from the inside out. Expect gooey Welsh rarebit, fatty pork with clams, salmon served en croute and his signature baked oysters with marmite, although menus change regularly to reflect the best of that season’s bounty.
