CMYK
Changsha, China
Named after the acronym for the four primary colours used in the printing process – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black – CMYK’s origins sprouted from the idea that “the superposition of four colours can create countless new colours”, says owner Ethan Liu. When applied to cocktails, the theory is a celebration of the millions of different flavour combination possibilities that a creative bar team can conjure. For the look and feel and ethos of this cosmopolitan bar, Liu – an award-winning bartender in his own right, and co-founder of Hope and Sesame bar in Shenzhen – drew inspiration from years of travel around the globe. The result is a high-energy, multi-room place built inside an old residential building, with technically-advanced cocktails delivered with colourful pizazz. For fashionable Changsha – one of China’s happiest cities, known for its vibrant nightlife – there is no better bar for young, adventurous drinkers to mix and mingle.
