Tucked away within the Dusit Thani Lakeview hotel in Cairo, Tao brings together the best of Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Thai cuisine in one sexy spot, all cuisines served up courtesy of specialist chefs (Ta Duy Dat, Abhay Kala, Apinan Kongsitha and Pheerapon Janpuan, respectively). Firm favourites are all present and correct – from cloud-like dim sum and flame-grilled tandoor meats to ocean-fresh sashimi and lipsmackingly-good pad Thai – together with special fushion dishes to throw in a few surprises (think butter chicken dim sum, wok-fried lemongrass beef, shrimp tempura curry and teppanyaki beef vindaloo). The interiors are kept simple but sophisticated in neutral fabrics to the attention is kept firmly on the food, which is exactly where it should be.
