‘The victory of man over machine!’ is the rallying call of this buzzy laundromat-turned-tapas joint in Vieux Nice (the Old Town), energetically run by brothers Hugo et Grégoire Loubert. The turquoise-walled dining room offers table and counter seating, the latter with views over the gleaming open kitchen. Order a glass of crisp white and plate of fried anchovies while mulling over the menu, which offers about 15 perfectly judged small plates. Think local mackerel fillets marinated in cider vinegar with pickled beetroot, onions and cucumber or half a quail, cooked in egg and doused in a rich, moreish jus.
