Set within the glitzy Ritz-Carlton Berlin, Fragrances is every bit as fancy as you might expect. The textured golden bar front is topped by a show-stopping chandelier, alongside polished stone surfaces, plush upholstery and luxe flower arrangements: all suitably luxe, but the walkway lined with fine fragrances under glass cloches is somewhat more surprising. These perfumes aren't merely for decoration – or here as a delightful added extra – they act as the bar menu, with guests encouraged to discover their favourite of the scents, before the bartenders prepare a cocktail based on this choice. The innovative concept is overseen by the formidably talented Peggy Knuth, and sees the drinks prepared with an array of exciting techniques, to make sure there's substance to back up all this style.
