A recent addition to the many bars of Berlin’s Weserstrasse, Wax On offers something different, bringing cutting edge cocktail techniques and a fresh approach. The brains behind Wax On is bartender Sam Orrock, previously of Scout in London. He’s using equipment like rotary evaporators and centrifuges to create ingredients for a concise selection of drinks that draw heavily on the classics, each with an interesting twist, and all reasonably priced. The Old Fashioned contains peanut butter and strawberry, the Gimlet is made with mezcal, lemon verbena and vetiver, and so on. Beer is available on tap, with natural wines by the glass, and a trio of non-alc options that are just as interesting as everything else. There’s a fireplace too, for sidling up to with a fine beverage on a cold Berlin night.
