Kappa Chakka Kandhari

Chennai, India

India's coastal Keralan region has long been a favourite for its cuisine and Kappa Chakka Kandhari is the ideal place to thoroughly explore it. The restaurant's name is taken from the Indian words for three native ingredients: tapioca, jackfruit and bird’s eye chilli, which chef Regi Mathew puts to excellent use in set menus that cover everything from snacks to curries, stews and desserts. There's also the option to order some á la carte sharing specials including spiced and roasted shellfish or a whole, boneless Pomfret fish filled with coconut and masala stuffing. The restaurant itself is bright, modern and open-plan, dominated by an open kitchen and is open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner.
