Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono
Abuta-gun, Japan
Japan’s majestic Annupuri mountain range is a prized location for both natural beauty and over 30 miles of skiable trails. Offering ski-in, ski-out access to the prized real estate is the Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono, a Japanese-modern homage to an Alpine lodge. Melbourne’s BAR Studio designed the space for both beauty and practicality. Oversized windows leave no doubt that the spectacular mountain views are paramount, while features like ski lockers function to address the very specific needs of powder hounds. Skiers also enjoy boot warmers, on-site tuning, concierge services and even a powder cat. The Signature Spa tailors treatments to the sport and their onsen (traditional hot baths) are an unparalleled treat after a day on the mountain. Even the 100 rooms and suites were deliberately constructed larger-than-standard to account for the bulky nature of ski attire. However, the neutral toned mix of European Alpine chic and Japanese minimalism brings a cozy comfort to the sunny quarters. Apres-ski is also a priority at the 11 restaurants, bars and cafes. Chef Nakamichi provides a taste of Hokkaido at Moliere Montagne; Chef Mitsukawa delivers elite sushi at Sushi Mitsukawa, and patissier Pierre Herme offers an elite afternoon tea in the Cigar Lounge.
