Janu Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

Opened in 2024, Janu Tokyo is the latest arrival to the capital’s luxury hotel-scape, soaring above the new design district Azabudai Hills. This recently completed eight-hectare ‘city within a city’ – three decades in the planning – is a lesson in contemporary urban living, with its swish shops, cutting-edge galleries and trio of gleaming skyscrapers. Set on the first 13 floors of Residence A Tower, this is the inaugural hotel from Aman Group’s sibling brand. In keeping with the nurturing ethos of Aman, wellbeing is a focus at Janu. The state-of-the-art gym is one of Tokyo's largest, the 25-metre pool, treatment rooms and hydrotherapy area a haven from the teeming streets below. The 122 rooms are flooded with natural light, their neutral tones and textural furnishings dialling up the zen. But while Aman is all about cocooning its guests in a bliss bubble, its spirited younger sister encourages mingling, with no less than eight dining and socialising spaces. Some buzz morning, noon and night like the Italian Mercato, while others involve perching at an intimate counter for omakase-style sumibiyaki or sushi. Don’t leave without participating in a tea drinking ritual on the garden terrace or sampling one of mixologist Shuzo Nagumo's cocktails.
