Whether you arrive by boat, car or taxi (about $30 from Beirut), the freshest of locally caught fish awaits at Jammal, a Batroun institution. Set in a small bay, the restaurant’s terrace is so close to the sea that guests can practically dip their toes in the water. Signature dishes – octopus Provençale, red mullet, prawns that are still thrashing in a bucket when you order – are joined by cold and hot meze and salads. Service can be slow but, with a view like this, nobody seems to care.
