Nizuc
Cancun, Mexico
Nizuc is nicknamed ‘Mexico’s most photographed resort’. Indeed, two private beaches on the Yucatan, 29 acres of green mangroves and architect Alejandro Escudero’s masterfully integrated design provide ample reason to click the shutter. The standout views begin at the beach and pier, home to turquoise waters and alabaster sands as well as the starting point for many an adventure. The resort is stocked with equipment (and expert instructors) for snorkeling, kayaking, zayaking, paddleboarding and yachting. Inland, enjoy the allweather tennis courts or three stunningly chic infinity pools, including an adults only option. Escudero’s architecture also provides plenty of snapshots. The cream and slate tones of his contemporary design are offset by indigenous elements such as local timbers. Quintana Roo’s storied Mayan culture is well represented in 274 suites and villas through crafts as well as architectural elements. To achieve the latter, designers consulted with the Museo Nacional de Antropologia on features ranging from use of Mayan iconography to historically correct doorframes. Seven restaurants, offering an array of Central American cuisines, and three lounges offer more picturesque moments. The only time to leave your camera in the room is when indulging in one of the dozens of treatments offered at the ESPA-branded spa.
