The Yeatman

A subdued and contemplative hotel overlooking the Douro river, The Yeatman focuses on traditional Portuguese flavour and is the only restaurant in the Porto area to hold two Michelin stars. With chef Ricardo Costa at the helm, the tasting menu leans heavily towards seafood, from wafer-thin amberjack sashimi slices to tuna’s fatty underbelly, taking in the huge range of locally caught fish and the many different regional specialities produced with it. It’s not all fruits of the sea, however, and Costa’s ability to draw flavour from the unexpected, such as an acidulated puree from Jerusalem artichokes, is becoming legendary. The area’s fine wines are also championed here.
