Kuuru

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Nikkei concept restaurant Kuuru is set to open a second outpost in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District this year, fuelled by the popularity of the authentic Japanese-Peruvian cuisine served at this, the 2021-opened OG in Jedda’s Al Khalidiyyah district. Conceived by Dubai-based architects Forsite Creative, the large, warmly lit interior sports brilliant hues of turquoise and gold with geometric patterns and industrial copper tones. Chef Eddie Castro, who has travelled and worked his way across countries including Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Bolivia, oversees the robata grill in the live cooking station as well as the raw bar, where his team craft nigiri, hand rolls, ceviche and more. Signature menu items include the black cod criollo, and tiger shrimp anticuchero, which are expertly prepared using premium local seafood and vegetables. Kick things off with one of the zingy mocktails: the Road Trip is a refreshing blend of citrussy yuzu, coconut, ginger and oolong tea.
