Housed within a huge, state-of-the-art building in Jedda’s Ar Rawdah district, The Social Kitchen opened in 2019 and is the kind of place every neighbourhood should have. Serving up vibrant plates of Mediterranean and international cuisine, the light-flooded, loft-style restaurant offers lounge seating – with views over the open kitchen – a cocktail corner and an in-house bakery offering fresh-from-the-oven breads, cakes and giant, US-style cookies. Founded by local entrepreneur Basma Elkhereiji following the success of a former, 2013-launched café, The Social Kitchen is designed to be a relaxed, welcoming space where patrons can enjoy bold flavours in creative dishes made with quality ingredients: think tuna tacos, truffle risotto, quinoa kale salad, beef carpaccio and veal limone. Elkhereiji is also engaged in several other Jeddah-based projects, including online lifestyle store The Social Kollective.
