The name says it all when it comes to this grungy, down to earth cocktail bar located in Cape Town’s CBD – the ideal spot to strike up a conversation with a fellow patron over the sounds of hip hop while enjoying a world-class drink. Co-owner Alessandro Galassi is behind the bar’s music and aesthetics – the latter of which features clashing art pieces and graffiti, with one wall covered in the signatures of bar owners from around the world plus moody red lighting throughout. When it comes to the drinks, co-founder Nicholas Crouse is in charge with a selection of original seasonal drinks, signature cocktails, classics, shots and mocktails. Food here draws on the best of African cuisine, presented tapas-style. As a final touch, the menu lists other noteworthy bars on the South African cocktail scene, to encourage further exploration and to spark conversation with strangers.
