Byeokje Galbi

Seoul, South Korea

Eating barbecue is a quintessential Korean food experience and Byeokje Galbi has been delighting residents of Seoul with its legendary beef short ribs since 1986. Diners can expect booth seating, with every booth having its own charcoal-fired grill embedded in the table, allowing waiting staff to cook the signature short ribs – or variants such as ribeye or bulgogi – to order. Diners can also enjoy peace of mind as far as provenance is concerned, with Byeokje Galbi committed to only purchasing the top 1% (BMS No.9) of beef cattle, ensuring quality meat with that all-important marbling. It’s not all about the beef, though. Famous locally, the restaurant group’s buckwheat cold noodles (a dish with North Korean origins) come served with fermented chilli paste, an egg and thin slices of meat and vegetables, while side dishes include kimchi and sweet pumpkin.
