A relatively recent entrant to the Barcelona scene, this friendly bar in the city’s Gràcia neighbourhood offers modern takes on classic cocktails in a laid back setting with a contemporary, somewhat industrial interior. Set up by English bartenders Tom Godfrey and Theo Quinn, with experience at some of the best bars in the world, Foco takes its name, and inspiration, from Foreign Correspondents’ Clubs around the world. The idea is that guests share stories, much like the journalists at those clubs – although in this case over world-class cocktails. Inspiration for these drinks comes from the classics, reinterpreted using modern techniques and ingredients. There are 12 cocktails on the list at any given time, including their take on the Clover Club, with in-house raspberry jam and mentholated lemon, or the Espresso Martini, made using cold brew coffee extracted with spirits instead of water.
