Gran Hotel Son Net

Puigpunyent, Spain

Javier López Granados has a knack for hotels. The art collector had already made a strong debut on the Spanish hospitality scene with Finca Cortesin, and now has a second estate to his name with Son Net, a storied Mallorcan mansion surrounded by palm-dotted gardens, vineyards and views of the Tramuntana mountains. Within the 17th-century manor house, suites are infused with regal, countrified accents: think four poster beds, opulent fabrics and marble-topped furniture paired with exposed beams, carved wooden ceilings and stone flooring. The four pool cottages and vast pool villa are equally polished, and with the premium of privacy from the rest of the estate. The spa is another boon, home to a saltwater pool crowned by vaulted ceilings, a thermal circuit, a fitness room and a massage-driven treatment menu. Restaurant Mar & Duix champions Mallorcan cuisine, sourcing from as close to home as possible, including from the hotel’s vegetable garden, whilst the cosy all-day Green Bar has a warming fireplace and deliciously soft loungers, making it the perfect retreat for a winter whisky.
