Take the lift to the 11th floor of the akyra Thonglor hotel to discover one of the city’s hottest drinks tickets. The homely space is simultaneously held in time, yet filled with contemporary denouements. Chunky leather bar stools sit side by side with a high-gloss wooden bar; old typewriters, printing drawers and curios are juxtaposed by the yellow-lit capsule-like back bar; clandestine nooks are poised to overlook the glistening cityscape below. Pailin ‘Milk’ Sajjanit – ex Vesper – is in charge on the drinks front, with a craft list inspired by spirits from the Prohibition era. Each drink comes with its own backstory, which the skilled bartenders are more than happy to wax lyrical on. Noteworthy picks include a 1920s-inspired rum-based Pyroblast with coconut and spice syrups and the Temperance Songs series, which might include coconut fat washed vodka, coffee-infused vermouth, pineapple and raspberry cordial.
