Surrealism meets haute cuisine at The Lecture Room and Library, one of a trio of restaurants in 18th-century townhouse Sketch, run by French chef Pierre Gagnaire and owner Mourad Mazouz. Guests are greeted in an art-adorned lobby by flamboyant staff and led up a fantastical staircase to a glass-ceilinged dome with white leather walls. No amount of design features, however, can disguise the fact that the food – encompassing a vast range of techniques – is technically faultless. Expect a dizzying parade of canapés, amuse-bouche, starters, mains, desserts, cheese and petits fours, with a dream supporting cast of wines.
