Vesper

London, UK

Named after the eponymous drink and Bond character, Vesper Bar is as elegant as you'd expect, all movie-star looks and star-studded clientele. It's secreted away within a sexy space at The Dorchester hotel, although it does have a dedicated entrance on Park Lane (naturally). The whole thing is designed by acclaimed interior and architecture studio Martin Brudnizki – does the Swede ever get any sleep? – and is suitably glamorous with decor inspired by the roaring twenties (think Palladium leaf ceiling, Sienna marble bar, intricate timber marquetry and luxuriously upholstered seating). There's the Snug, too, a private spot for eight, concealed by a heavy tasselled curtain. Elsewhere, the menu certainly does not disappoint, with award-winning mixologists serving up old-school classics and new-wave creations, including a spin on its namesake cocktail with vodka, gin, Forbidden Fruit liqueur and 30-year-old-sherry, complemented by a stellar line-up of bar snacks (oysters and the like). Go on a Wednesday evening when the bar is buzzing thanks to a roster of regular live music sessions.
