Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Garden Farm
Albuquerque, US
The soothing scent of lavender fills the air at Los Poblanos, offering an invitation to ease into the comfortable pace that defines life in the Rio Grande Valley. Originally designed in 1932 by John Gaw Meem, the originator of 'Santa Fe Style', today this 25-acre lavender farm and historic inn includes 45 charming guest rooms, each with its own unique personality inspired by the surrounding fields and farm (some with wood-burning fireplaces that operate from October through April). The pastoral haven, nestled in the shadow of the Sandia mountains, remains family owned to this day, and it’s not unusual to run into one of the permanent farm-dwellers on walks around the premises, such as Mouse the friendly ginger tabby, or one of the inquisitive alpacas or boisterous peacocks. The on-site restaurant, Campo, located in the former dairy barn, features understated farm-to-table cuisine; and architecture fans will revel in the meticulously preserved historic details found throughout the property, many of which communicate a quiet sense of Southwestern soul. For guests staying at the farm, a stately bar called The Library – housed in the property’s most notable architectural building – offers a small curated list of cocktails featuring flavors of the region.
