Don’t judge a book by its cover. Herbs & Rye’s location looks like a generic strip mall from the outside, but the stylish speakeasy bar within is far from generic. The large space, with its red walls and cosy oak tables, is typically buzzing with locals, removed from the strip as it is, but come happy hour it’s always busy. Well-made drinks introspectively focus on their own history, listed on a menu that separates them by eras and with snappy little lessons to go alongside each one. A full menu of steaks and Italian classics draws in the other half of the crowd, there for dinner as much as a martini, while staff are charming and clearly love what they do.
