Maialino (meaning ‘little pig’) is an affectionate homage to a traditional trattoria, specialising in pork. Wooden beams and checked tablecloths transport you straight to Rome’s Trastevere neighbourhood, but the views over Gramercy Park are New York all the way. Matt Spivey raids Greenmarket and local farms to create a menu that leans heavily on pork, with an unmissable signature dish of slow-roasted suckling pig served alongside rosemary potatoes. House-made pastas are as authentic as they come, and an all-Italian wine list contains some surprises alongside the classics.
