Bar impresario Shingo Gokan teamed up with former Employee’s Only bartender Steve Schneider to bring New York a taste of what makes his international portfolio so renowned with Sip & Guzzle. That bar is comprised of a bustling upstairs space that pays homage to American drinking culture with understated updates on classic cocktails (Guzzle), and a quieter, more intimate downstairs space taking inspiration from Japanese cocktail culture (Sip). Downstairs bartender Ben Yabrow (formerly of Double Chicken Please and SG Club) turns up the volume with high-concept cocktails – fans of the SG Club might recognise drinks like the Tomato Tree and the Rain & Moss Gin Fizz. With quirky elevated bar snacks from former Alinea chef Mike Bagalewith – the Wagyu Royale with Cheese is an extra-decadent splurge – the experience is nothing short of glamorous.
