Since 2017, 50 Best has been celebrating exceptional, innovative and interesting cocktail menus across the globe with the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award. The accolade returns this year, open to bars of any style in any location, with the winner revealed at the ceremony of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025.
To enter, bars must provide a digital copy of their current menu, alongside a 500-word written statement and images of the cocktails, with the option to add other supporting material, such as short videos. Historical menus or menus created for bar pop-ups are not eligible. There is no fee to enter.
The Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award is open to bars of any style
Senior representatives from 50 Best and its expert panel of Academy Chairs will assess the entries across five core criteria. These carefully examine: a menu’s approach to design and layout; storytelling, innovation; its range of drinks, and how it communicates the bar’s identity. The highest-scoring finalists will be invited to the ceremony for The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, with the ultimate winner revealed and crowned on the night itself.
The regional winners of the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award for both North America’s 50 Best Bars 2025 and Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025 will also be determined from these entries, both of which will be revealed at their respective ceremonies during the year. Winners of the regional awards are eligible to win the overall global accolade at The World’s 50 Best Bars event if they are the highest scoring entry overall.
The Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award closed for entries on Monday 3 February at 09:00 (UTC).
Inspiration from previous winners
Rising above the hundreds of submissions for the 2024 award was Lyaness in London, whose 3.0 Cookbook menu was honoured for its collection of daring drinks built around 18 core ingredients crafted with diverse scientific techniques.
Behind the bar and menu is international bar magnate Ryan ‘Mr Lyan’ Chetiyawardana, who also led Lyaness’s predecessor, Dandelyan, to the title of The World’s Best Bar in 2018. For the third and final instalment of Lyaness’s Cookbook series, Chetiyawardana and team distilled their years of learnings into a masterful menu that is wildly inventive and educational.
The Doc Americano at Lyaness is built around a house-made carrot vermouth
Eighteen core ingredients sit at the heart of its cocktails, ranging from carrot vermouth in the Doc Americano to peated parsnip amazake (Japanese fermented rice spirit) in the Faux Fruit Sour, a tropical concoction inspired by wartime ingenuity. As an added bonus, many of the cocktails are also able to be created totally alcohol free.
Beyond just the delicious sips, Lyaness leans into storytelling throughout the menu, with each of the drinks accompanied by a short tale that tells guests about the context, history or creation story of the cocktail they are set to enjoy. With all these details combined, the 3.0 Cookbook is a showcase of cocktail world-building and a worthy winner of the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.
For 2024’s regional awards, Meadowlark in Chicago was recognised as the champion in North America for The Magic City menu, inspired by its hometown hosting the World’s Fair in 1893. In Asia, Taipei’s Nest by Pun was awarded for taking its guests on an intriguing journey of bold flavours and aesthetics with Tales of Nest, which offers cocktails grouped into nine categories ranging from ‘bright and fruity’ to ‘aromatic, wild and complex’.
