Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants returns to Rio de Janeiro in 2024

The vibrant Brazilian city will host the continent’s most prestigious celebration of gastronomy for the second year running

Rio de Janeiro, the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvellous City), birthplace of the Bossa Nova and home of Christ the Redeemer, is set to host Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024.

After a hugely successful edition in 2023, the hotly anticipated event programme will again be held in Brazil’s second most populous city, with the awards ceremony taking place on 26 November 2024 at the newly renovated Roxy venue.

Known throughout the world for its beaches, carnival and caipirinhas, Rio de Janeiro also has a rich gastronomic history formed, evolved and developed through Indigenous, European, African and Asian influences. It’s a host destination that truly embodies the spirit and depth of the Latin American region.

This year marks only the second time since Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants launched in 2013 that the event will take place in Brazil, further cementing the country's standing as a world-class dining destination. The 2023 edition saw restaurants from 23 cities across Latin America featured in the 1-50 ranking, with Lima’s Maido ultimately reclaiming the coveted No.1 position.

Continuing its mission to champion a wider range of dining destinations, 50 Best will also reveal the list of restaurants ranked from 51st to 100th on 14 November.

Further prizes set to be revealed at the awards ceremony include the Beronia Latin America’s Best Sommelier Award, Woodford Reserve Icon Award, Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award, Latin America’s Best Pastry Chef Award, sponsored by República del Cacao, Highest New Entry Award, sponsored by Aspire Lifestyles, and of course, The Best Restaurant in Latin America 2024, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.

#50BestTalks and Signature Sessions

The Rio de Janeiro event programme will also feature the thought-provoking #50BestTalks on 25 November, providing a platform for some of the world’s most influential culinary figures to discuss key issues facing the gastronomic community.
