Fancy sampling a dish from the world’s No.1 restaurant? How about dessert from one of Asia’s most revered pastry chefs? Head to Abu Dhabi in January 2025 to experience the Flavours of 50 Best evening brunch, and all the above – and much more – will be on your plate
Securing a reservation at Disfrutar in Barcelona, the current holder of The World’s Best Restaurant title, requires some serious planning. Now, however, one of the Spanish chefs behind its brilliantly inventive menu, is demonstrating and serving one of his signature dishes at a unique event on Saturday 25 January in the United Arab Emirates.
The Flavours of 50 Best evening brunch, featuring Disfrutar’s Eduard Xatruch, takes place at Graphos Social Kitchen in the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island hotel. But Xatruch is not the only visiting culinary star: the evening also includes a mini cooking class and chat with Gaggan Anand, the Indian-born chef whose Bangkok flagship was voted The Best Restaurant in Asia a record four times.
Flavours of 50 Best will be held at Graphos Social Kitchen in the Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island
Following that, Odette head pastry chef Louisa Lim – voted Asia’s Best Pastry Chef in 2023 – will round out the meal with a signature delicious dessert. Alongside these standout dishes, rising-star bartender Raminta Ambroževičiūtė from LPM Dubai will mix up plenty of cocktails.
Each of the chefs will demonstrate how to prepare their dish and discuss the inspiration behind it and their careers to date in a live kitchen interview. Their plates will be served to all diners and the chefs will meet and greet guests throughout the evening.
Meet the talent:
Eduard Xatruch – One third of the trio of chefs behind Disfrutar, Xatruch helped lead the Barcelona restaurant to the pinnacle of global gastronomy, when it was named The World’s Best Restaurant, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, in 2024. Xatruch and his partners all met, trained and worked at the legendary El Bulli in northern Catalonia under Ferran Adría, before opening Disfrutar in 2014. The restaurant serves a fast-paced 30-course tasting menu of brilliantly imaginative dishes, backed by cutting-edge technique. Guests at Flavours of 50 Best will enjoy a taste of one of the chef’s iconic plates.
Gaggan Anand – The world’s most famous Indian chef debuts in Abu Dhabi at Flavours of 50 Best. Gaggan Anand, whose restaurant – Gaggan in Bangkok – is ranked in the top 10 of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024, will bring one of his high-impact dishes to the party, along with his irrepressible personality. Born in Kolkata, the chef made his name by reinventing contemporary Indian cuisine with a rock’n’roll twist from his base in the Thai capital, with his former restaurant being voted No.1 in Asia a record four times. Expect the unexpected.
Louisa Lim – The head pastry chef at Odette in Singapore, twice named The Best Restaurant in Asia, has built a stellar reputation as a true queen of desserts. Her aesthetically stunning creations often focus on seasonal fruits – such as her strawberry pavlova with pistachio chantilly – and are frequently playful: take the signature Smarx dish, which blends elements of Snickers, Mars and Twix chocolate bars to delicious effect. Named Asia’s Best Pastry Chef 2023, Lim will provide that all-important dash of indulgence to diners.
Raminta Ambroževičiūtė – The bar manager at LPM Dubai has worked in the UAE for the last seven years, having moved from her home country of Lithuania to further her international experience. Now established as one of the region’s premier cocktail makers, Ambroževičiūtė has helped steer LPM Dubai to make its debut at No.76 in the extended list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024. She will mix a range of cocktails for Flavours of 50 Best guests, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, so no thirst will go unquenched.
This will be the second edition of the Flavours of 50 Best concept, which debuted in 2023 and was created specifically for the UAE, known as the birthplace of the modern brunch. There will be a host of premium food stations to supplement the star turns, from lobster counters to cocktail bars, live barbecue stations to smoothie carts.
Expect an evening of great entertainment, extensive eating, plentiful drinking options and the chance to sample dishes from some of the biggest stars in the culinary firmament.
Flavours of 50 Best is an evening brunch collaboration at Graphos Social Kitchen, Hilton Abu Dhabi Yas Island, taking place on Saturday 25 January 2025, from 18.30–22.00.
