After the seminal launch of North America’s 50 Best Bars in New York last June, the annual awards ceremony is heading south of the border to Mexico for its second highly-anticipated edition. This year’s ranking, which will be unveiled at Hacienda Los Picachos in San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato state, will conclude with a bar crowned The Best Bar in North America 2023, sponsored by Perrier. Awards ceremony
Thursday 4th May at 20:25 in San Miguel de Allende (03:25 UK time)
All eyes will be on Hacienda Los Picachos as the establishments listed as North America’s 50 Best Bars 2023 are revealed in a countdown from No.50 down to No.1, with the final bar to be crowned The Best Bar in North America, sponsored by Perrier. In addition to the main ranking, a number of special award winners will also be announced, including the Roku Industry Icon, Campari One To Watch and Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu awards, among others.

Live interviews: Meet the No.1 and press conference
Immediately after the awards ceremony
Straight after the conclusion of the awards show, the bar named the finest in the continent will take part in an exclusive interview hosted on the 50 Best Bars Instagram account. After sharing their initial reaction with 50 Best, the bar team will move to the official press conference, which will be livestreamed on YouTube, where they will answer any questions from the media. The press conference will also feature exclusive interviews from other special awards winners from the night.

Bartenders’ Feast
Wednesday 3rd May
All bars that have made this year’s 50 Best ranking will have their first get-together of 50 Best Week at Live Aqua Urban Resort in San Miguel de Allende the night before their position on the list is revealed. Cocktails will be flowing set to the soundtrack of reggaeton from DJ Esa Mi Pau. Follow the 50 Best Bars Instagram account to watch the event unfold.
Closing Party
Friday 5th May
In a first for the 50 Best event programme, a Closing Party will bring the curtain down on this year’s events. All listed bartenders will have the opportunity to debrief and relax on the sun-soaked Amatte Rooftop. Follow the event live on the 50 Best Bars Instagram account.
How the list was created
The list of North America’s 50 Best Bars 2023 was created from the votes cast by the 50 Best Voting Academy: a gender-balanced panel of 260 industry experts, ranging from bartenders to drinks media and well-travelled cocktail aficionados..jpg)
Attaboy was voted The Best Bar in North America, sponsored by Perrier, at the inaugural 2022 ceremony in New York City
In 2023, each voter cast seven votes based on their best bar experiences of the past 18 months. The aggregated votes from all experts make up the list. To learn more about the voting process, visit the North America’s 50 Best Bars website.
Special awards
Ahead of the full reveal of this year’s winners, two of the programme’s special awards were announced. Botanist Bar in Vancouver received the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award 2023, and Christine Wiseman was bestowed the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award 2023, the only peer-voted accolade of the events programme.
