North America’s 50 Best Bars heads back to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, for its third edition and a live awards ceremony on Tuesday 23rd April 2024. Find out everything you need to know about this year’s programme of events below
Following its successful debut in New York City in 2022 and a sun-soaked follow-up in San Miguel de Allende in 2023, North America’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, is returning to Mexico for its 2024 edition to celebrate the leading lights of the continent’s cocktail community.
This year’s festivities will be its biggest to date, with a three-day programme taking place at some of the UNESCO World Heritage City’s most picturesque spots. Here’s just a small taste of what to expect from this year’s events.
Bartenders’ Feast – Monday 22nd April
The Bartenders' Feast will be held at 50 Best Discovery-listed hotel Live Aqua
The day before the main awards ceremony, the Bartenders’ Feast will return to Live Aqua Urban Resort and act as a welcome to the 2024 events programme. The teams behind the bars that are set to feature within the 2024 ranking will come together for a night of feasting, incredible music and, of course, stellar cocktails created by a host of international guest talent from 50 Best-listed bars around the world.
Awards ceremony – Tuesday 23rd April
All eyes will be on the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende on Tuesday 23rd as the main event begins. Industry VIPs and the teams behind the soon-to-be ranked venues will join together to celebrate the continent’s cocktail scene at the live awards ceremony, which will unveil a brand new list for 2024, counting down from the establishment ranked No.50 to the coveted No.1 spot, as well as revealing a host of other special accolades.
Closing party – Wednesday 24th April
The Closing Party will make a reappearance in the 2024 itinerary. Taking place the day after the awards ceremony, bartenders and the cocktail community will be invited to bask in San Miguel’s afternoon sunshine on one of its signature picturesque rooftops – the perfect setting to feast on food and sip sundowners.

Ahead of this year’s ceremony, 50 Best will also reveal two special prizes in the weeks prior to the event. These include the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award, celebrating the North American bar leading the way on impeccable service, and the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender, a peer-voted award highlighting an individual who has contributed to advancing the continent's bar sector.
How the list is created
The ranking of North America’s 50 Best Bars is the result of the votes of the 270-strong Academy – a gender-balanced panel of cocktail experts, educators, authors, journalists and bartenders from across the continent. The Voting Academy is divided into seven regions: Canada East, Canada West, USA Northeast, USA Midwest, USA West, USA South and Mexico and the Caribbean. Each voting region is led by an Academy Chair, who is deemed an expert in their regional cocktail scene. To find out more about the voting process, click here.
