The biggest bar event in the world will travel to Spain’s capital city for the first time when The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, sponsored by Perrier, is announced at a live awards ceremony on 22nd October
50 Best will gather the very best of the international drinks community in Madrid – a city renowned for its vibrant food and drink culture and sensational nightlife – for the 16th edition of its awards this year. Launched in 2009, The World’s 50 Best Bars event programme has travelled from London to Barcelona and Singapore, celebrating some 364 individual bars along the way.
After the success of the 2023 events in Singapore, which saw more than 100 satellite parties, guest shifts and activations take place across the week, festivities for 2024 will bring bartenders, cocktail aficionados and drinks media in their thousands to the Spanish capital.

It all starts with the now-legendary Bartenders’ Feast, where the teams behind the soon-to-be ranked bars enjoy bespoke cocktails and bites the night before they discover their bar’s spot on the list. The glittering awards ceremony follows on 22nd October and the programme is rounded out by a very special 50 Best Closing Party – a celebratory affair with free-flowing drinks from special guest bartenders and myriad local delicacies from Madrid’s food scene.
In the run-up to the events in the city, 50 Best will reveal the winners of two special awards designed to celebrate the exceptional achievements of one bar and one bartender, as well as those venues ranked in the extended global list from 51st to 100th.
Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award: this prize is voted for by members of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, comprising more than 700 experts, who are each asked to name the bar where they received the single best hospitality experience during the voting period.
Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award: this accolade is voted for by the bartenders from those bars on this year’s list, who are asked to name a peer who they believe has contributed the most over the voting period to further the craft of bartending.
51-100 list: In the weeks prior to the awards ceremony, 50 Best will reveal those bars ranked between 51st and 100th via its website and social media channels.
Over the next few months, bars and bartenders from around the world – whether they feature in the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars or not – will also be invited to nominate themselves for three additional special awards, the winners of which will be announced at the ceremony in Madrid.

50 Best Bars Roku Scholarship 2024: one trailblazing young bartender will be given the incredible opportunity to expand their horizons with unique internships at two establishments on the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars. Two previously awarded bartenders are already making waves on the international scene after winning this prestigious accolade: Drew Fleming, who is currently director of operations at Kiki Lounge on the Isle of Man, and Apoorva Kohli, who recently finished a stint behind the stick at the world’s No.1 ranked bar, Sips in Barcelona.
Bareksten Best Bar Design Award: judged by an esteemed panel of hospitality design experts, this award celebrates and rewards bars across the globe for thoughtful design that enhances and enriches the bar-goer’s experience.
Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award: bars from across the world are invited to submit their current cocktail menu to showcase innovation, creativity and identity.
The countdown of the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, sponsored by Perrier, will be broadcast live to a global audience via 50 Best’s digital channels. Bars and cocktail lovers are invited to join through The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook page and 50 Best Bars TV channel on YouTube.
