Birosca S2 has been open almost a decade and is the jewel in the crown when it comes to one-time TV chef Bruna Martins' growing hospitality empire, alongside Gira Vinho and Mercado Novo, also located in Brazil's Belo Horizonte. A bright and beautiful little jewel box of a dining room, the decor is inspired by holiday souvenirs with brightly-coloured metal grilles woven together on the ceiling and mismatched chairs around antique tables spread with classic checkerboard cloths. As for the food, it's a vibrant mix of Brazilian traditions and ingredients with European influences showing in snacks of mortadella and pistachio croquetas or a main course of lamb and curd lasagna. But don't you dare miss out on Birosca's showstopping sharing dishes, including its signature prawn pie with pumpkin and Brazilian catupiry cream cheese.
