Natural wines and seafood plates are the name of the game at Bar Kismet. Founded by Annie Brace-Lavoie and Jenner Cormier, who met at Toronto’s lauded Bar Raval, the bar is created with with sustainability in mind, centred on seasonal ingredient availability which set the direction of this bar and kitchen. Each cocktail includes its ABV, alongside its flavour profile, in the form of a haiku. Drinks, like its Carrot before the Horse – made with tequila, espresso, sherry, amaro and carrot cake cordial and described as ‘bitter and autumnal with a menthol finish’ – are poetry in motion. Alongside cocktails, the menu spans a wide range of wines, including an astute selection of natural wines, which are paired perfectly to a succinct offering of bar plates. Already a celebrated restaurant, Kismet has exceeded its food reputation and created a name for itself as one of Canada’s best bars in its own right.
