Stories are integral to the cocktails served at Prophecy, ensconced within the basement of the Hotel Georgia in Vancouver. Taking inspiration from writers, poets, musicians and artists, this cocktail bar’s menu is a piece of literature in itself with cocktails divided into broad categories such as Love of Land and Sea or Home Fires & Wandering Spirits. Each drink in turn references artists and artistic works – the Bhagavad Gita in the case of the Internal Flame, or Robert Burns for the Kelpie. Cocktails are colour coded to denote whether they are spirituous, refreshing, herbaceous or lush, and cocktails are plotted on a flavour map too. The space itself – lavish and elegantly decorated – is also comfortable with plush seating throughout and large-scale art, not to mention an enviable selection of top-end spirits gracing the back bar.
