Moon Bay
Hong Kong, China
Don’t be disturbed by the strange location – there’s more than meets the eye at this restaurant, located inside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre complex, and the second spot from the team behind Hong Kong icon Seventh Son. Spacious and sprawling (a rarity in the city’s tightly packed urban environment), Moon Bay pairs its opulent and voluptuous dining space with an equally generous menu of upscale Cantonese classics. You’ll find city favourites – congee, spiced jellyfish, juicy char siu, drunken abalone, baked crab shell, crispy osmanthus eel and much-lauded longevity lotus buns – in a multi-page menu that’s heavy on traditional Cantonese meat and seafood dishes. Modern plates hide amongst the heritage, such as stir-fried wagyu beef with organic black garlic. The showpiece dish is reserved for larger dining groups: an entire suckling pig, complete with crispy skin. Elsewhere in the creamy menu pages, you’ll find a lunchtime dim sum menu and set business lunch, as well as an 'executive' tasting selection. Diners are invited to bring their own bottles.
