This classy venue is inspired by the glamour of 1920s Shanghai, the Pearl of the Orient, and all that comes with it: think turquoise and jade tones, glittering of bronze and gold, a four-storey-high ceiling and, in the middle of it all, a chic island bar. But, refreshingly, it never takes itself too seriously. Mixologist Jackael He champions Chinese influences and fresh ingredients in his signature cocktails, including ‘Noodle Soup’ (a gin-based cocktail offering a modern twist on a classic local dish, infused with herbs and spices and served in a teapot and soup bowl on a custom wooden tray). And the cover page of the menu quotes Coughlin’s Law, one of the musings from Doug Coughlin in the ‘80s Tom Cruise classic ‘Cocktail’: “Never show surprise, never lose your cool.”
