Black Angel's Bar

Prague, Czech Republic

Prohibition wasn’t only a problem for American cocktail drinkers in the 1930s. At the same time, bartender Alois Krcha was running a public house in Prague when alcohol was banned there too. Black Angel’s Bar pays tribute to Krcha, while channelling this illicit atmosphere with its location in a gothic cellar, found below the U Prince Hotel. It’s an evocative place, with exposed masonry and dim lighting. The cocktail list is further inspired by Krcha, with an array of interesting creations to choose from, such as the Alois Becher-Cobbler, a lower-alcohol option combining vermouth with Czech liqueur Becherovka. Don’t miss the quartet of classic cocktails served in hand-made glasses from the world-renowned Moser, including an aged Vieux Carré and a Negroni aged with oak.
