On the second floor of the Sudirman 7.8 building, walk towards the exit and you'll find nondescript doors that slide open to reveal the elegant Koda, a speakeasy helmed by Japanese barman Yukata Nakashima, formerly of d'Classic. The wood-clad bar, softened with lush red banquettes, smooth leather loveseats, a dimly lit recessed lighting scheme and handsome artwork, wouldn't feel out of place in a traditional high-rise in Japan's Ginza neighborhood. A small menu of classics is available to peruse, but the bar puts an emphasis on the exceptional Dealer's Choice programme to showcase the first-rate skills of Nakashima, determined by the guest's selection of base spirit, taste (sweet, dry, sour, bitter, herbal, etc.), style (long, short, on the rocks, or crushed ice), and alcohol level (low, medium, or strong). Cede control and enjoy the ride.
