Amidst the technicolour beauty of Postiano’s sea-facing hillside houses, Le Sirenuse sits as one of the finest hotels on the Amalfi coast. Just as Positano evolved from an otherwise unknown fishing village to the modern tourist hotspot it is today, Le Sirenuse started as a family house, before it was opened to the public as a hotel in 1951 by the Sersale family, who still operate the location. Since an extensive refurbishment in the 1990s, the hotel has been renowned for its Italian-inflected elegance, housing 58 whitewashed rooms, each painstakingly decorated with hand-painted tiles and treasured antiques, with a million-dollar view to match. The surrounds of Positano need little introduction and Le Sirenuse maximises every inch of them. Its pool, complete with classic multicoloured parasols, directly overlooks the Mediterranean Sea below. At night, when the town basks in a warming glow, the candle-lit terrace at Aldo’s Bar offers the ultimate al fresco experience, with La Sponda restaurant offering exemplary Italian plates crafted by Gennaro Russo. To round off the experience, from June to October, guests of Le Sirenuse can embark on a romantic sunset cruise aboard the Sant’Antonio – a vintage wooden fishing boat hand-built by the Aldo family.
