There’s a hidden gem to be found on the second floor of an unassuming building in Osaka’s Chuo Ward. Entering the tiny Bar Shiki – there are just eight seats at the bar, and a handful of tables – is like stepping back in time, perhaps to France, into an ornate setting with wonderful drinks on offer. There’s incredible attention to detail here, not only when it comes to tiny decorative touches, but in terms of the service too. Old bottles of whiskies contrast with contemporary liqueurs on the curated back bar, presented on multiple levels in shelves and in cabinets, along with in-house infusions and other cocktail ingredients. These are used to craft bespoke creations according to the preferences of each guest.
