Super chill neighbourhood vibes define this Colonia Americana hangout, which opened during the pandemic with the intention of creating a much-needed meeting place for locals. Now, just a few short years later, the hip dive-bar-meets-cantina is a staple of the neighbourhood, pleasing locals and in-the-know service industry folks alike. The backbar features small and independent brands from the region (mostly agave spirits), and the cocktails are designed to celebrate regional flavours – a sentiment that has only recently infiltrated the Guadalajara cocktail scene – often featuring various traditional herbs and spices that are otherwise historically used medicinally, as a nod to the bar’s name. The easygoing afternoon pace quickens in the evenings, when aguachile service shifts to tacos and the jukebox lights up with everything from cumbia to Queen. It is, in short, the perfect place to drink like a local.
