The working 'healing' farm, as it describes itself, sits at the foot of the Franschhoek mountains, and embodies the essence of slow living. Rooms are designed to be so cosy they’re called sanctuaries, and with warm terracotta and uplifting blue hues, rich wooden furnishings, exposed beams and gleaming copper tubs, transforming stays into a homely retreat. Activities are equally wholesome, from sunrise harvests to pottery classes, sound healing, Chakra balancing in the aptly-named Soul Shed. Massages in the historic manor house-turned-Bath House feel like the ultimate indulgence, though early morning yoga offers its own brand of serenity in line with Sterrekopje’s restful, no-stress ethos. Meals follow the same philosophy: guests are invited to bake bread, whip up cakes in the country kitchen, and then gather around a communal table to share the fruits of their labour.
