Angelita is a venue of two halves: there's a wine bar at street level and a hidden basement cocktail lounge. It's especially well-stocked, too, with more than 1,000 different types of wines and spirits on offer. The cocktail menu downstairs is packed with homemade ingredients (the Bloody Mary even contains home-grown tomato juice) and illustrated with individual flavour maps for each drink. The drinks are straightforward, delicious and frequently served in the kind of quirky glassware guaranteed to raise a smile.

Helmed by the visionary Villalón brothers, David and Mario, the drinks convey the owners’ deep passion for showcasing local flavours and sustainable practices. The current menu, Bebidas Vivas, pays homage to the natural world, with 20 plant-related and seemingly simple cocktails that deliver maximum flavour with minimal intervention. Take The Berries, for example, which blends gin with seasonal berries and foraged Provençal herbs or The Pear, a masterfully savoury mix of raicilla, blue cheese and distilled pear. Their innovative approach to what the bar refers to as ‘gastro-cocktails’ earned them No.65 in the extended 51-100 rankings of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024.
